The Election Commission (EC) is to issue a gazette notification declaring 20th of June as the general election date.
The decision was reached when the EC convened this evening to finalize a date for the polls.
The EC met with health ministry officials this morning to understand the coronavirus situation in the country.
The polls body is scheduled to meet political party leaders at 10.30 am tomorrow to discuss its decision.
The general election was originally scheduled to be held on the 25th of April but was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
