Kumar Rupesinghe, a well known Sri Lankan activist passed away while receiving treatment in a private hospital today (20), it is learnt. Rupesinghe was known for his involvement in social issues, particularly human rights development issues, conflict prevention/resolution, and conflict transformation in the light of peacekeeping and peacebuilding. Rupesinghe also served as a member of the board on the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD)'s Project on War Torn Societies.
