Bandara accuses more officials in SriLankan scam

20 Feb 2020

Bandara speaking in Parliament today (20) said that former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena could have not executed such a deal without the blessings of then SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickramasinghe. "Nishantha Wickramasinghe is also the brother-in-law of current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa." Bandara went on to also accuse the Minister in charge and the then President for having had a hand in the deal. "Chandrasena is a close associate of the Rajapaksas. Chandrasena was immediately made Sri Lankan Airlines Chairman during the 52 day Rajapaksa government in 2018," Bandara added. In an earlier occasion,  JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayaka in Parliament  claimed that former SriLankan CEO Suren Ratwatte had profited out of the cancellation of the airbus order. After the Government was elected in 2015 Suren Ratwatte, the brother of Charitha Ratwatte – who was the Senior Adviser to former Prime Minister Ranil Wikremesinghe – was appointed as the CEO of SriLankan Airlines.
