The Environmental Foundation Ltd. (EFL) presents the second edition of Green Conversations on 28 February under the theme of Deforestation from 6 p.m. onwards at Hatch. With the immense success of the first edition of Green Conversations, EFL is launching the second edition with a whole new panel of experts to provide an understanding on deforestation in all aspects including academic, environmental, corporate, and the individual attempts.
With the main sponsor for the event being Nations Trust Bank, EFL provides that the key objective of this event is to create a platform to address the challenges of this global crisis and acknowledge the attempts and concerns of organisations and individuals with regard to this pressing environmental matter.
The speakers for the event include Dr. Nirmalie Pellawatte, an academic of the University of Colombo talking on the topic of causes and impact of deforestation, Hufsa Hudha, the Legal Officer at EFL on the topic of rules and regulations in place to mitigate deforestation, Sunela Jayawardhene, Environmental Designer on the topic of sustainable design incorporating the natural environment, Shalinda Dissanayake from Dumbara Mithuro on the topic of to what extent can communities come together to tackle deforestation, Neil Jayawardhana, the founder of Kahala Pallekele Abhaya Bhoomiya Surakinno on the topic of how we as individuals have a responsibility to safeguard our natural environments, and Heminda Jayaweera, Co-founder of Thuru on the topic of how to accelerate reforestation using technology.
This is an open event and will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session. All environmentalists, activists, members of the media, members of economic and environmental organisations, and all other parties interested may attend the said event to make a stand against deforestation and all environmental injustices that are prevalent in the world.
