Election for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will be held on Thursday, 20 May 2021, it was announced today (4).
The latest date for submitting nominations will be Wednesday, 24 February 2021.
The Morning reported on 25 January that there could be three camps, under current President Shammi Silva, former Vice President Kangadaran Mathivanan, and former Sri Lanka Captain Sanath Jayasuriya, that are to contest the SLC elections this time.
But Jayasuriya later denied he is contesting.
On 7 January at an Extraordinary General Meeting, SLC appointed a three-member Election Committee in accordance with the regulations of the Sports Law.
The committee comprises Justice Malani Gunaratne, a retired judge of the Court of Appeal, Justice Shiromi Perera, a retired judge of the High Court, and Dr. D.M.R.B. Dissanayake, former Secretary to various Government Ministries.
The date for elections was to be announced within two months after the Election Committee was appointed (before 7 March) and the deadline for holding the election was 31 May.Cricket Board election fixed for 20 May
