They were detected following PCR Tests carried out on Tuesday (2) for the entire 36-member squad, along with the coaching staff and net bowlers, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said yesterday. The SLC further added in a media release: “Immediately upon identification, both Arthur and Thirimanne have been directed to follow the Govt.’s health protocol laid out on Covid-19. “The 36-member group commenced practices on the 28 January, in three groups, and at different time periods, as a precautionary health measure. “Considering the current situation, SLC is exploring the possibility of rescheduling the tour of West Indies, which was scheduled to commence on 20 February 2021. “In the meantime, SLC will continue with normal operations, adhering to the stipulated health protocols in all its centres.” [caption id="attachment_117851" align="alignright" width="233"] Lahiru Thirimanne[/caption] Meanwhile SLC sources said all players have been advised to be on self quarantine. According to tentative scheduling, Sri Lanka are to play three ODIs, three T20Is, and two Tests in Antigua and St. Lucia from 2 to 31 March. Meanwhile it is also understood that many players of the current Sri Lanka squad, including Thirimanne, had allegedly been present in a wedding that took place in Colombo on Tuesday (2). The occasion that has reportedly been taken place in a leading Colombo hotel is feared to be a hot spot for the virus to spread among the proposed members of the Sri Lanka tour party to the West Indies. If further players or officials are to test positive in the following PCR Tests, the entire Windies tour could be in jeopardy or possible rescheduling could become necessary.
