The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) will provide a statement on the raid which took place at a media outlet yesterday, Cabinet Spokesperson Bandula Gunawardena said at the Cabinet press briefing today.
Gunawardena was responding to a question posed by the Media on a police raid that took place at the premises of 'News Hub', a web news agency.
The media agency was raided by the police using a search warrant which was reportedly outdated.
The media also inquired about News Reader Sanjaya Danushka of ‘TheLeader.lk' being questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Gunawardena said he had no information regarding the two incidents and that the Act. IGP will provide a statement soon on the matter.
However, Gunawardena assured that the government will take all measures to strengthen media freedom under the Leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
