People in the Western Province will not be allowed to travel outside of the province until Sunday 15th midnight with immediate effect, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said. However, he said the people living outside the province are allowed to enter into the Western Province. The decision follows President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s instructions to prevent movement outside of the province in the wake of higher number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Western Province.
