Ministry of Buddha Sasana has temporarily suspended tours to Dambadiva due to the rise of coronavirus cases reported around the world.Tour operators and other relevant authorities have been advised by the Ministry on this regard.
Until Sunday, there were 39 cases of COVID-19 reported from India. The latest were from Ladakh and Tamil Nadu, having travel history from Iran and Oman respectively.
Ministry Secretary Bandula Harischandra said as over 90 percent of pilgrims participating in the Dambadiva tours were elderly people and that it was risky to send the groups as they were more susceptible to the virus.
