We will not hide anything from the public : PM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the nation today (20) said that the government will not in anyway hide anything from the public about the coronavirus situation in the country. "The government will not hesitate to provide vital information at all times about the nature of the virus and the number of the COVID-19 patients." We have taken all necessary measures to curb the spread of the virus including subjecting many persons to the quarantine process and closing entry to foreigners. He added that there was sufficient food stocks, medicines and fuel for the next several months and that citizens need not panic. Rajapaksa said that the Island-wide curfew was imposed due to irresponsible acts of certain individuals. "An island-wide curfew was not even imposed during the time of terrorism. However this is required for the protection of the public and children. We apologize for any inconvenience caused during this period." Rajapaksa urged the citizens  to follow advise from the government and doctors in order to overcome the coronavirus pandemic.
