Overall Operational Command (OOC) - Colombo will take command of all Army, Navy, Air Force and Police areas within the Western Province and Puttalam District for operational purposes with immediate effect. In a statement issued by the army today, Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage (Commander, Security Forces - West) will function as the Overall Operational Commander. A communiqué sent to the Ministry of Defence by Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army said the OOC in Colombo will commence its functions under the Chief of Defence Staff with immediate effect.
