One of Sri Lanka’s most prominent sports doctors in Australia, Dr. Siri Kannangara has passed away recently.

The late Dr. Kannangara has been known to treat several leading Australian and Sri Lankan sportsmen and scores had benefited from him, having sought his help to cure their ailments.

Among a few of the high-profile sporting figures who had been treated by the late Dr. Kannangara had been former India batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, as well as icons such as Sir Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, Barry Richards, and former Sri Lanka pace merchants Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga.

Dr. Kannangara, who migrated to Australia in the late 1970s, was a specialist in the sphere of sports medicine and had also been involved in World Cup events for games such as football, cricket, netball, and hockey.
