The Department of Meteorology has issued a red warning for rough seas and strong winds up to 70 kmph from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota. 

Wave heights may reach 3 meters, posing a risk of coastal surges. 

Naval and fishing communities are advised to avoid these areas for the next 24 hours and stay alert for further updates.
