The Ministry of Sports recently approved the five-member Selection Committee for Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA), headed by Upali Kumarasiri.

A retired national athlete and ex-DIG, Kumarasiri, an old boy of Isipathana College, previously served in the post and has been reappointed to lead the Committee for the 2025-2026 term by Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage.

Sarangi de Silva, a former national long jumper, is the only female member of the committee.

The other members are retired Assistant Physical Education Director D.A. Dayaratne, Ravi Vidyalankara, and Lt. Col. M.K.P. Jayasekara.

Previously, former Olympic marathoner Wimalasena Perera chaired the Selection Committee.
