  • Says SLTDA Chair should be removed if Govt. doesn't concur

The Anti-Corruption Force organisation urged the Government to remove the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Chairperson in relation to a statement he made recently.

It noted that the chairperson should be removed if the Government does not concur with the recent statement made by the SLTDA Chairperson with regard to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer and questioning (LGBTIQ)-friendly tourism in the country.

The group’s Convenor Niroshan Padukka discussed this during a press briefing held by the main Opposition, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya yesterday (9).

“The Prime Minister also states that the statement made by the SLTDA Chairperson regarding homosexuality is irrelevant and that the statements made by the President and the Foreign Affairs Minister regarding it are relevant. If that is the case, the Government should take steps to remove the SLTDA Chairperson who made a statement regarding homosexuality. If the statements made by the President and the Foreign Affairs Minister are to be accepted, the country does not need a SLTDA.”
