Women's long jump national record holder and South Asian champion Sarangi de Silva is scheduled to participate in the “Seiko Golden Grand Prix 2023” held in Japan this weekend.

Nine strong athletes are going to participate in this gold category tournament organised by the World Athletics Association. Australia's Brooke Buschkuehl, who won the silver medal in the long jump event at the concluded Commonwealth Games and was ranked first in the world last season, and India's Shaili Singh, who won the silver medal at the Under-20 World Championship held in Nairobi in 2021, and the Asian Indoor Championship gold medalist are to take part in the tournament. Players like Sumire Hata and Ayaka Kora of Japan will also compete as Sarangi’s rivals.

6.85 m is the direct qualification for women's long jump for this year's world championships. 36 athletes in the world rankings have the opportunity to compete in the Budapest World Championship.
