Chairman of the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) International, Dr. Quazi Quamruzzaman has highlighted the role of young activists with years of experience in creating innovative approaches to disaster management and the need for such individuals to enhance their capacities at the local and international level.
He stated thus at the A-PAD 10th anniversary forum on "Beyond Disaster, Towards the Future" held recently in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. A-PAD commemorated promoting effective and efficient disaster aid in the Asia Pacific area where this regional platform, which was established in 2012, has grown to include seven national platforms including in Sri Lanka, Japan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, South Korea, the Philippines, and Nepal.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, Rodney M. Perera expressed his admiration and appreciated the work conducted by A-PAD Sri Lanka (SL).
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Association to Consider the Strategic Direction of non-Governmental organisations and non-profit organisations, Ichiro Aisawa highlighted the importance of mitigating global warming impacts that could lead to severe disasters.
