The main Opposition, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), criticised the recent Cabinet of Ministers reshuffle, claiming that a Cabinet reshuffle without additional measures to stabilise the economy would not lead to tangible changes.
SJB Parliamentarian S.M. Marikkar discussed these concerns while speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (13).
“Regardless of the nature of the Cabinet change that the Government resorts to, the same group (of politicians) gets appointed again,” he said, raising concerns about the measures necessary to address Government inefficiency and debts.
Marikkar further claimed that some ministries had underspent massive amounts of funds allocated to them for this year as those ministries had not performed as expected. He opined that changing the ministerial portfolio of an inefficient minister is hence insufficient.
