A three day camp by Asoka College Cub Scout Group

A three day camp was organised by the Cub Scout Group of Asoka College Colombo 10, on 16-18 September 2022 parallel to the 13th National Cubboree.   The Western Province Assistant Secretary of Education Mahendra Wijethunge, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest while the Director of Education (Primary Colombo zone) Shyama Perera, the Principal of Asoka College Captain Y. Yasarathna, Sri Lanka Scout Association Colombo District Scout Leader Pushpa Perera, Assistant Principal B.D.H. Udawatta, Primary Section Assistant Principal Sripali Indika and all the teachers of the primary section joined the opening ceremony.   An eye-catching concert, a physical fitness programme, recreational activities such as BWF badge programme, creative handwork and arts, aesthetic activities including drama songs, around the world programme and also some religious activities of all the religions practised in Sri Lanka were organised to develop a balanced personality in our cubs. The District Commissioner (Colombo) Amil Abeysundara (Colombo), and Chandrika Abeysundara (A.D.C. Cub Colombo) joined the cubs on the second day.   The Deputy Principal of Asoka College D.P. Attygala, Assistant principals T.G.B.D. Rathnavali and Indika Sripali and all the teachers of the primary section of Asoka College graced the closing ceremony on the 3rd day. Certificates were awarded to 25 cubs who earned “Gold Stars” in the closing ceremony. Special gratitude was paid to Commander Chamara Meepawala and his team of Sri Lanka Navy for the valuable contribution and support given for the physical activities of the cuboree and teachers in charge of the Cub Scout Group of Asoka College Inoka Kulatunga and Rasika Weerasinghe for the dedicated service with the great support of parents group in successfully organising this event.
