Advocata Institute launches public policy discussion

The Advocata Institute is to launch a public policy discussion today (24) on building consensus on economic reforms to emerge from the present economic crisis that Sri Lanka is encountering.  The institute is dedicated to finding policy solutions to key challenges holding back Sri Lanka’s road to development. The discussion would discuss in detail policies and strategies that would enable Sri Lanka to build consensus on a programme of economic reforms that can drive Sri Lanka towards recovery and economic prosperity.  The magnitude of which, based on Advocata’s analysis, is far more grave than any economic crisis the country has experienced post independence. Taking the urgency of the situation into account, the Advocata Institute has organised an event to highlight the importance of building consensus on economic reforms to emerge from the present crisis.  This discussion, which will feature a panel consisting of senior legislators and policy makers. LIRNEasia Chair and Advisor to the Advocata Institute Prof. Rohan Samarajiva will provide the keynote address. The panellists include Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Dr. Harsha de Silva, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Patali Champika Ranawaka, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Dr. Suren Raghavan, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Prof. Ranjith Bandara, and National People’s Power MP Vijitha Herath. The event will be moderated by Advocata Institute Chief Operations Officer Dhananath Fernando and  Advocata Institute Research Analyst Sathya Karunarathne.  Advocata Institute is an independent policy think tank based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The institute conducts research, provides commentary and holds events to promote sound policy ideas compatible with a free society in Sri Lanka.  The event is free and open to the public.
