The petitions filed by JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara have been scheduled for consideration.
The petitions were filed seeking the issuance of a writ order nullifying the recommendations made against him by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Political Victimisation.
The petitions were taken up before a panel of judges comprising Justices Arjuna Obeysekera and Ruwan Fernando today (17), the Court of Appeal said.
President's Counsel Sanjeewa Jayawardena stated that the President has appointed a three-member Presidential Commission consisting of two Supreme Court Justices to further study the recommendations made by the Presidential Commission to Investigate Political Victimisation.
However, President's Counsel Romesh de Silva, appearing for the petitioners, informed the court that this was an urgent matter and that a date should be set for the consideration of the petitions.
