Aragalaya foreigner denies rumour of marrying Sri Lankan to evade deportation

22 Aug 2022

By Ruwani Fonseka Kayleigh Fraser, the Scottish lady who had been actively involved in the Aragalaya has no intention to marry a Sri Lankan to evade her deportation order, says Fraser's counsel Nagananda Kodithuwakku. He made this statement while speaking exclusively with The Morning today (22). "People are now making baseless accusations towards Ms Fraser. At one point, people told me that Ms Fraser was a drug addict and that she shouldn't be defended. Whereas, in my opinion, she seems mentally stable and talks sensibly. If she was a drug addict, I don't think she would be so composed. Now the story of her trying to marry a Sri Lankan national has popped up and that too is false and baseless," he said. Kodithuwakku further noted that Fraser did have a Sri Lankan boyfriend but he was a long term partner and was not in the intention of marrying to evade or make changes to the court ruling. "These are all personal matters. People should not come up with such accusations without knowing what the other is going through. Furthermore, tomorrow we have a hearing at the Supreme Court and with that we can see how to proceed further," he concluded. Earlier today, several posts were circulating on social media stating that Fraser was in the intention of marrying a Sri Lankan just to evade her deportation which was ruled by the Supreme Court last week. Fraser has since been missing and the Immigration department has not been successful in locating her.
