People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL), which has been working as a recognised election monitoring agency for more than three decades, has worked against the misuse of state property and state power during elections, and against the use of state resources and power for the promotion of one party or candidate, and we have taken legal action in this regard on many occasions.

We observed for a long time that the country's national wealth was being used for the promotion of political parties and groups that were in power. It is a common electoral malpractice and an event that severely affects the free and fair election.

But in all these cases, we have emphasised and intervened not to stop development or subsidy projects in the country, but to prevent the promotion of a political group or candidate through those development and subsidy projects. In the petition 139/24 which we filed in the Supreme Court recently, we requested that development and subsidy projects be carried out without political interference. Also, in the implementation of those projects, the instructions and sub-measures of the Election Commission should be complied with.

We are issuing this press release as it has been observed that there is a misconception in some groups that the people will lose the subsidies and development facilities through the judicial process of PAFFREL organisation. Even so, I would like to emphasise that in the future, if any misuse of state power and resources is observed, it will intervene and request all parties to refrain from such activities.
