• Motorcyclist killed in another accident 

One person has been reported dead, and several others left injured following a head-on collision involving two buses in the Panliyadda area of Melsiripura on Tuesday (16) night.

The Police stated that the accident occurred when a bus travelling from Colombo to Trincomalee collided head-on with a bus travelling from Batticaloa to Colombo.

At least eight other individuals have been injured in the accident.

The driver of the bus which was travelling from Batticaloa to Colombo was killed in the accident.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old youth was killed in an accident involving a car and a motorcycle on the Galgamuwa-Anamaduwa road in the Palukandawa area of the Galgamuwa Police division. The accident had occurred when a car travelling from Anamaduwa towards Galgamuwa collided with a motorcycle arriving from the opposite direction of the road. The motorcycle rider who sustained critical injuries following the accident succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Galgamuwa Base Hospital. The deceased is a 19-year-old resident of the Galgamuwa area. The woman who was driving the car involved in the accident has been arrested.
