Jagath Manuwarna wins ‘Best Director Award’ at DIFF

Film Director Jagath Manuwarna has won the award for 'Best Director' in the Asian Competition Section of the 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF).


Manuwarna clinched the title for his feature film directorial debut, 'Whispering Mountains', which premiered at the Bright Future programme of the 2023 International Film Festival Rotterdam. 


It also won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Awards for the best Asian feature film.


The 87-minute film was invited to the 28th Busan International Film Festival in October 2023.


The DIFF, held from 20 to 28 January, had the theme 'Better Film, Better Audience, and Better Society', featuring a total of 253 movies.
