The bill to repeal the Online Safety Act, No. 9 of 2024, and other regulations concerning the Act, has been gazetted.

According to reports, the Gazette highlighted that the Sinhala language text of the said bill will prevail in case of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil language texts.

The Online Safety Bill was passed by a majority vote in Parliament on 24 January 2024.
