Dilanka Shehan of the Sri Lanka Army and Seneshi Herath of Rainbow Aquatics won the men’s and women’s titles in the annual 5 km open water – sea swim championships 2023, organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Association.
The event was held on Sunday (22) at Balapitiya. Both Dilanka Shehan and Seneshi Herath won their titles for the second consecutive year. I. Theekshana and M. Kumara from the Lion Swimming Club, Ambalangoda finished second and third, respectively, in the men’s category. D. De Silva from Sri Devananda College, Ambalangoda and P. De Silva from Prajapathi Gothami Girls College finished first and second, respectively, in the women’s category.
The men’s overall championship was won by the Sri Lanka Army. The women’s overall championship was won by Prajapathi Gothami Girls College. It was the Sri Lanka Army’s ninth such win since 2011.
