The Ministry of Defence will respond appropriately to alleged preparations to release an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video aimed at indicating that the slain leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Velupillai Prabhakaran's daughter Dwaraka is still alive, it is learnt.

It was recently reported by the media that an AI-generated video clip was being prepared in order to be circulated on 27 November, indicating that Dwaraka was still alive.

When contacted by The Daily Morning to inquire about the matter yesterday (19), the Defence Ministry's Spokesperson Colonel Nalin Herath said that they had not been officially informed of the preparation, but had paid attention to related media reports.

"The Defence Ministry has not been officially informed by anyone, but there are media reports. This will be another 'cheap attempt' by the LTTE, so we do not worry about it." When queried as to whether the Ministry would take any action regarding the alleged preparation, he said: "Yes, if there is a need, we will respond accordingly, and take appropriate actions."

Related media reports stated that the international LTTE network was planning to carry out fundraising activities by circulating the video clip in question, and that they had obtained the consent of LTTE Leader Prabhakaran's relatives with regard to the matter. The reported date of releasing the video, 27 November, has been declared by the LTTE as Maaveerar Naal, a remembrance day observed by Sri Lankan Tamils to commemorate the deaths of LTTE militants.
