SLC distributes bowling machines to 22 schools

The distribution of bowling machines to 22 schools islandwide has taken place at the SLC headquarters with the participation of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva, Vice President Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association President Thilak Waththuhewa, and several other SLC office bearers.

Royal College; D.S. Senanayake College; Lumbini College; Moratu Vidyalaya; Isipathana College; Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya; De Mazenod College, Kandana; St. Anthony’s College, Wattala; Gurukula College, Kelaniya; St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa; St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya; Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha; Maliyadeva College and St. Anne’s College of Kurunegala; St. Anthony’s College, Dharmaraja College and St. Sylvester’s College of Kandy; St. Thomas College, Matara; Devapathiraja College, Rathgama; Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda; St. Aloysius College, Galle; and Holy Cross College, Kalutara were the schools that received the bowling machines.

Along with the distribution of the bowling machines, which have a 28-ball auto feeder, 36 practice balls, and a practice ball bag, were also handed over to the schools.

Initiated under the guidance of President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee of the SLC, the move is part of the National Pathway programme, which focuses on supporting schools with the necessary equipment to play competitive cricket.

Apart from bowling machines, Sri Lanka Cricket, under this programme, provides cricket materials, matting and concrete wickets, and centre-turf wickets, as well as the balls required to play the U13, 15, 17, and U19 cricket tournaments, along with other required cricket facilities for schools.

In the meantime, four district associations were also handed over bowling machines during the ceremony.
