A total of 33 independent groups and political parties have submitted nominations to contest the 2024 General Election, according to the Election Commission (EC).

The EC revealed that as of yesterday (8), 17 political parties and 16 independent groups had completed their nominations.

The Commission also noted that no nominations have been submitted for the constituencies in the Matale, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, and Badulla districts yet.

Accepting nominations for the General Election lasts from 4 to 11 October.
