President Anura Kumara Dissanayake visited Kandy yesterday (24) to assess the situation, as over 400,000 devotees gathered for the “Siri Dalada Vandana” special exposition. 

The local authorities urged devotees against travelling to Kandy over the next two days, and special transport services from Colombo were cancelled due to the tense and overcrowded conditions.
