10 year old Elisha Samuel with the help of her mother Dr Manouri Samarakoon, has initiated a fund raiser art exhibition at the Lionel Wendt theatre on the 17th and 18th of June, to raise funds for the Lady Ridgeway hospital Intensive Care Unit in Colombo.

Speaking to The Morning, Dr Samarakoon said that Elisha was severely sick with covid 19 and dengue simultaneously, and the LRH staff and doctors battled for her life.

"Today, Elisha is 10 years old and is happy and healthy, thanks to the efforts made by the LRH doctors and staff. Elisha was near death and battling for her life, but the doctors were fantastic and kind to us and brought Elisha back to health. Because of this, my child has decided to give back in the way she knows, to the hospital that saved her life," said Dr Samarakoon.

Dr Samarakoon noted that all the paintings at the exhibition were to be auctioned, with the starting price of Rs 10,000 per painting, and all proceeds were to be donated to purchase more beds and medical equipment for the LRH ICU.

"I am proud of my daughter and I wish to invite everyone to the exhibition and encourage people to purchase a painting to support the cause," she said.
