The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered the exhumation of Nimesh Sathsara’s body for a fresh post-mortem, following concerns raised over his death in police custody.

The exhumation is scheduled for 23 April, after a request by the CID and the Colombo JMO.

A three-member expert panel has been appointed to conduct the new post-mortem, as previously directed by the court.

The move comes after the youth’s mother claimed his death was suspicious.

Sathsara reportedly sustained injuries while in Welikada Police custody and died at the Angoda Mental Health Institute on 2 April.
