Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand Wijayanthi Edirisinghe hosted a meeting with senior representatives from Colombo Port City, marking an important step towards strengthening investment and business relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The Colombo Port City delegation included Port City Colombo Special Economic Zone Asia and Pacific Investment Promotion Regional Head Sarayut Lekplipol, CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd. Industry Investment Director Shi Mingguang and CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd. Investment Promotion and Marketing Business Development Manager Michael Hu.
The delegation outlined Colombo Port City’s vision to position itself as a premier hub for regional offices and trading offices.
As part of this initiative, they proposed a high level investment summit specifically designed to attract secondary investments from companies in Thailand.
They requested the Embassy’s assistance to facilitate engagement with prominent Thai chambers and trade associations, inviting their members to participate in the proposed event.
Edirisinghe underscored the Embassy’s commitment to facilitating such initiatives, and emphasised the role of Port City Colombo as a gateway for regional investment in South Asia. Both sides agreed to maintain close collaboration to foster stronger economic ties and unlock new business opportunities between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
