SL U19 tour of Pakistan: Young Lions clinch series with a big win

Sri Lanka U19 registered a comfortable win over Pakistan U19 in the fifth Youth ODI and sealed the 5-match series, 3-2 in Karachi yesterday (31 October). 

After being asked to bat first, Sri Lankan top order batted brilliantly to lay the perfect foundation for the side. The opening pair Pulindu Perera and Ravishan de Silva put on a 64-run stand for the first wicket.

Skipper Sineth Jayawardene who came in at  No. 3 helped scored a blitzkrieg knock of 82 runs off 69 balls with 11 fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 118.84.

In form Rusanda Gamage continued the onslaught with aggressive half-century in the middle order for Sri Lanka scoring 66 runs off 64 balls with five fours as the visitors finished at 293 for nine.

With the ball, Young Lions showed a top-class bowling effort as they managed to restrict the hosts for just 128 runs.

The spinners Vihas Thewmika and Malsha Tharupathi swept through Pakistan batting lineup, taking six wickets and ending up with identical figures of 3/12.
