President AKD departs for China today

President Anura Kumara Disanayake is set to depart the country this evening (13) for a 4 day state visit to the People’s Republic of China.


Accordingly, this visit will take place from 14 to 17 January, and will be carried out at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.


During the visit, President Disanayake will hold discussions with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.


Accordingly, the visit focuses on strengthening diplomatic ties and exploring collaboration in areas like technology, agriculture, and poverty alleviation. Discussions with Chinese leaders and participation in business forums aim to enhance economic cooperation and Bilateral agreements are expected to be signed, deepening Sri Lanka-China relations.


This marks President Disanayake’s second international visit and a key step in strengthening Sri Lanka-China ties, particularly in trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
