In the wake of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's three-day visit to Sri Lanka, scheduled to commence from tomorrow (4), the Government stated that details related to the bilateral agreements to be signed and will be released after the bilateral discussions and the visit.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held yesterday (2), Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said that agreements are expected to be reached with the Indian Government in sectors such as defence, energy, the digital economy, and health. He also mentioned that Premier Modi will inaugurate certain projects, including the Sampur Power Project, during the visit. During the media briefing, the media questioned the details of the agreements set to be signed between the two countries and the statements made by the National People's Power Government on Indian projects before the national elections. In response, Minister Dr. Jayatissa stated that information regarding the agreements and the visit will be shared after the bilateral discussions and the visit. "President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral discussions and reach some agreements. After that, the two Heads of State will address the media. The details of the agreements and the visit will be disclosed after the bilateral discussions and the visit," he said.
