The public will soon be able to pay expressway tolls using debit and credit cards, with the system set to go live at all exits from 1 May 2025.

Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayaka said the Road Development Authority (RDA) is leading the initiative to upgrade toll payment methods.

As part of the first stage, card payments are already being accepted at the Kadawatha and Kottawa exits.

The move aims to modernize toll collection and improve convenience for commuters.
