The Ministry of Education stated that according to the proposed education reforms, aesthetic subjects can be studied in primary, secondary and tertiary education.

The Ministry further revealed that students can sit for examinations on aesthetic subjects in the GCE Ordinary and GCE Advanced Levels examinations as well in Sri Lanka, and that aesthetic subjects in higher education will remain the same. 

Ministry is reported to be working to eliminate false assumptions spread by the media regarding the matter, as aesthetic subjects have been identified to be essential for general education.
