President Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to conduct a detailed investigation into self proclaimed 'Prophet'Jerome Fernando's church further to Fernando's controversial statement comparing Lord Buddha and Jesus Christ.

This information was given to The Morning by the Director General of the President's Media Division Dhanuska Ramanayake today (15).

"President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the CID to investigate thoroughly into complaints that have been filed at the CID regarding statements made by Jerome Fernando and his church. The CID has commenced an investigation and will report accordingly," said Ramanayake.

The Morning exclusively investigated into Prophet Jerome Fernando, The Glorious Church and The Miracle Dome the last 2 months since the expose of Uebert Angel, and reported findings accordingly.

Jerome Fernando, a self proclaimed 'Prophet', hit the local spotlight when his 'spiritual father' Uebert Angel was exposed by foreign media Al Jazeera Investigative Unit for money laundering and gold smuggling.

Fernando has been accused by the public for using political influence to evade taxes, hide financial transactions and also living an extravagant lifestyle while urging his followers to 'sow' into his ministry 'sacrificially'.
