Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasingha, the current Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, has requested to be relieved of his duties in order to take up another post within the public service.

Accordingly, he will be appointed to a new role within the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.

Kamal Amarasinghe, a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and currently serving as Secretary to the Ministry of Highways, Transport, Housing and Construction, will succeed Weerasinghe as the new Commissioner General of Motor Traffic.

This decision was approved by the Cabinet following a proposal from the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation.
