The Attorney General’s Department informed the Court of Appeal that a program will be formulated to reduce air pollution in Jaffna.

The announcement was made during the hearing of a petition filed by a Jaffna resident, seeking Government intervention to address rising air pollution.

A court-ordered survey confirmed harmful air quality levels in the region.

Accordingly, the Government plans to implement a nationwide pollution reduction program and is seeking foreign funding for the initiative.

The case will be reviewed again on 5 July.
