The Committee on High Posts has approved the appointment of former Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, President's Counsel (PC), as Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) in New York.

The decision was made during a committee meeting held in Parliament on 21 March.
