Sri Lanka’s long jump champion Dhanushka Sandaruwan managed an outstanding performance in an athletics championship held in California, USA yesterday (9), starting the new year’s season of competitions.

Dhanushka participated in the men’s long jump event of the M.V.A. Winter Classic 2023, where he recorded a performance of 7.72 m, for which he won first place in the event.

Dhanushka, who holds the Sri Lankan indoor long jump record in Sri Lanka, displayed his best performance last year when he recorded a performance of 7.58 m. In the 2022 season, Dhanushka recorded a performance of 8.10 m (+3.2w) as well as a performance of 8.03 m.

Dhanushka previously recorded a performance of 7.99 m and he also represented Sri Lanka in the World Athletics Tour last year.

Dhanushka, an alumnus of Nalanda College Colombo, is currently engaged in training in the US.
