The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced the successful distribution of free school uniforms to over 4.6 million students in 2025. 

For the first time, the entire 12 million meters of fabric was donated by China, valued at Rs. 5,171 million. 

This marks a significant milestone, following partial contributions in 2023 and 2024. 

The initiative covers students from 10,096 schools and 822 Pirivenas nationwide, continuing Sri Lanka’s free uniform policy since 1992. 

All materials have been delivered, ensuring a smooth start to the school year.
