Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya highlighted the importance of conserving Anuradhapura at an international conference co-hosted by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Sri Lankan Government.
She emphasised Anuradhapura's universal value, Sri Lanka’s long-standing partnership with UNESCO, and the challenges of balancing heritage, tourism, and local needs.
The Government plans to develop Anuradhapura, Jaffna, and Kandy as heritage cities, reinforcing its commitment to global conservation efforts amid modern challenges.
