Speaker of Parliament Jagath Wickramaratne informed party leaders that a proposal to appoint a committee for the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon will be presented to Parliament on 8 April.

The Speaker made this announcement during the Parliamentary Oversight Committee meeting held today (2).

The proposal to remove IGP Tennakoon, who is currently in remand custody, from his position was submitted to the Speaker recently, which was signed by 115 Members of Parliament (MPs).
