One of the most senior and versatile players in the country’s netball team and former skipper Tharjini Sivalingam began a new chapter in her life when she entered wedlock on 17 June.
Sivalingam, who was born on 30 December 1978 in the Jaffna District, went places in the netball arena while being hailed as one of the tallest shooters of all time with her staggering height of 6ft 9in.
During her career, Tharjini was also often regarded as the tallest netball player ever while being her country’s most capped netball player.
She was also a regular member of the Sri Lanka national team in international netball tournaments since making her debut 15 years ago.
Tharjini also became the oldest player to play in the history of the Netball World Cup at the age of 40, when she appeared at that edition in Liverpool, England.
She subsequently broke her own record of being the oldest ever netball player to appear in a World Cup, when she contested last year’s edition in South Africa, aged 44.
The Daily Morning Sports wishes Tharjini and her spouse many years of happy and blessed wedded life together.
