President Anura Kumara Dissanayake convened a meeting with party leaders today (10) to discuss the economic impact of new US tariffs and explore proposals for dialogue with the US government.
The meeting followed a request from opposition MPs, with the President presenting findings from a committee tasked with studying the tariff system and its implications for Sri Lanka.
Key topics included strategic recommendations, frameworks for diplomatic engagement, and the need to diversify Sri Lanka’s export markets.
Leaders from across the political spectrum participated, including Sajith Premadasa, Harsha de Silva, Ravi Karunanayake, Dayasiri Jayasekara, and Dilith Jayaweera.
The proposals and recommendations discussed will be compiled for further Government deliberation, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
