Sri Lanka Police received two election law violation complaints from Polonnaruwa and Matale ahead of the 6 May Local Government (LG) elections.

A candidate in Siripura, Polonnaruwa, reported a defamatory video circulating on Facebook, while another complaint in Mahawela, Matale was filed over excessive campaign cutouts. 

No incidents of election violence have been reported.
